Jealous_cover Throwback Thursday…Wayyyyyyyyy back to 2006 and my debut album with producer/mentor Chuck Plotkin. This track, “What You Owe”, was particularly close to my heart. I think it was the first time I wrote a song where I was willing to be completely straightforward; to say, unequivocally, hey–you’ve let me down. Pay up or disappear. That’s a tough lesson to learn, I’m still practicing it everyday. Which is why it’s sometimes good to come back to this and listen.  xox What You Owe

sarah_chuckThe first concert I ever saw was Chuck Berry. No I’m not THAT old, but my dad is (you’re welcome, dad). So I was raised on the great Chuck. I have a vivid memory of dancing with my dad to “Maybellene” on our boat on New Year’s Eve when I was 7 years old. A few years ago for a Christmas present, I recorded this and a few other tunes for my folks. Woke up with it in my head, so thought I’d share it with you! xox Maybellene

We just jammed and jammed, and in the end had to cut something like 160 bars of outro. I’m going to play it at Hotel Cafe on August 12th (see Shows page for details).
